Who needs a Messiah, anyway ? OK, we do need a Messiah. But, He must be the RIGHT One ! How can we know ?

If I place my faith in any Messiah not generally accepted by my family, won’t they say that I am abandoning my Jewish faith ?

Recently I have been told by a co-worker that Christians now believe in only one G-d, the G-d of the Torah. I find that hard to believe. Has Christian doctrine changed ?
